Terms & Conditions

Effective Date: August 20, 2026 · CargoDox · Illinois

🚫 Absolute Prohibition: No Mechanical Work of Any Kind

NO mechanical work, repairs, maintenance, or servicing of any vehicle — including trucks, tractors, trailers, or any other equipment — is permitted on any lot booked through CargoDox, at any time, under any circumstances. This prohibition includes but is not limited to: oil changes, tire changes, engine repairs, brake work, electrical work, welding, fluid changes, filter replacements, jump-starts using external equipment, or any other form of vehicle service or maintenance.

Violation of this policy will result in immediate termination of your reservation without refund, a permanent ban from every lot bookable through CargoDox, removal of the vehicle by the lot owner at the vehicle owner's expense, and may result in civil or criminal liability for any damage caused to the lot or to other vehicles. CargoDox may charge you the full cost of any cleanup, environmental remediation, or repairs resulting from unauthorized mechanical work.

§1 Agreement & Acceptance

By reserving a parking space through CargoDox ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"), you ("Renter," "you," or "your") agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. This agreement constitutes a legally binding contract between you and CargoDox.

CargoDox is a booking marketplace. We do not own, operate, staff, or manage any parking lot. Every lot listed on CargoDox is owned and operated by an independent lot owner ("lot owner"). We take your reservation, we take your payment, and we are the party you deal with about your booking — but the lot itself, and everything physically on it, belongs to and is controlled by the lot owner.

What a reservation is. A confirmed reservation grants you a temporary, non-exclusive, revocable license to park a listed commercial vehicle at the lot for the dates you booked. It is not a lease, a commercial tenancy, or a bailment, and it gives you no ownership interest in the lot or in any particular space.

The Company reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of any lot booked through CargoDox following notification of changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

§2 Permitted Use

  • Lots are designated exclusively for the parking of legally registered commercial trucks, semi-trucks, tractors, trailers, and associated equipment.
  • Only the vehicle(s) listed on the reservation may occupy the assigned spot.
  • The license plate, trailer number and USDOT (motor carrier) number of the vehicle you park must match the license plate, trailer number and USDOT number recorded on your reservation at checkout (whichever of these we collected for your vehicle type). A vehicle that does not match your reservation is not authorized to occupy the spot and may be treated by the lot owner as an unauthorized vehicle.
  • Vehicles must be parked within the assigned spot boundaries at all times. Occupying multiple spaces is prohibited.
  • Renter must ensure their vehicle does not block aisles, entrances, exits, or other tenants' spots.
  • Overnight parking is permitted only for vehicles registered to the reservation.

§3 Prohibited Activities

  • All mechanical work is strictly prohibited (see highlighted section above).
  • No storage of hazardous materials, fuel, chemicals, or flammable substances beyond what is contained in the vehicle's standard fuel tank.
  • No open fires, grilling, or burning of any kind.
  • No solicitation, commercial activity, or unauthorized sub-leasing of the parking space.
  • No dumping of fluids, waste, trash, or debris anywhere on the lot.
  • No residing or living in parked vehicles for extended periods constituting habitation.
  • No use of the lot for any illegal activity.
  • No loud noise, music, or idling beyond applicable local ordinances.
  • Pets must be leashed and waste must be disposed of properly.

§4 Reservation, Billing & Payment

How a reservation is made

  • When you book a space that shows as available for your dates, it is reserved for you right away. Nobody has to approve or confirm your booking, and we will not give that space to another driver for the dates you booked.
  • That is true whether or not you are charged at the time you book. A monthly reservation with a future start date is reserved for you from the moment you book, even though the first charge comes later.
  • You are reserving a space at the lot, not a particular numbered stall. Not every lot numbers its spaces, and where a space is numbered the number you are given may change.
  • Parking is offered on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis, as available at each lot. Current rates are shown on each lot's booking page.

If a lot cannot honor your booking

  • Real-world yard conditions change — a lot can fill up, be blocked by an accident, or become inaccessible. If you arrive and the lot owner cannot give you the space you booked, your remedy is your choice of a full refund of what you paid for that booking, or our help re-booking you at another lot bookable through CargoDox.
  • That is your sole remedy for a booking a lot cannot honor. The Company is not responsible for other costs that may follow — detention time, lost driving hours, missed delivery windows, spoiled freight, or penalties under your own carrier contracts.

Prices and taxes

  • Rates are subject to state, county, and local parking taxes. Which taxes apply, and at what rate, varies by lot and by whether you book daily, weekly, or monthly.
  • Your booking total always includes all applicable taxes. The total shown before you confirm is the amount you will be charged, and we add no separate booking fee on top of it.
  • That is true however your booking was arranged — whether you booked it yourself on cargodox.com or we recorded it for you by phone or email.

When you are charged

  • Daily and weekly reservations are charged in full at the time you book.
  • A monthly reservation starting today is charged at the time you book, prorated from your start date to the end of that calendar month.
  • A monthly reservation with a future start date is not charged when you book. We save your payment method, and the first charge is made on your start date.
  • Renter must vacate on or before the end of the reservation period; overstays are charged at the standard daily rate for that lot, for each day until the vehicle leaves. There is no separate overstay fee or penalty.

Auto-renewal and your saved payment method

  • A monthly reservation has no end date. It renews automatically, month after month, until you turn auto-renew off or cancel it. You do not choose an end date when you book.
  • ⚠️ Auto-renew applies once your booking has started. Turning it off then is a cancellation — it begins the 30-day notice described in §5, not a switch that simply stops future months, and you may owe money after you turn it off. Before your booking starts, use Cancel to cancel the reservation, under the windows described in §5.
  • By saving a payment method with us, you authorize the Company to charge that payment method without further action from you for: the first charge of a reservation with a future start date, made on your start date; each monthly renewal; any amount you owe under §5; each day you stay past the end of your reservation; and any balance left unpaid after a failed payment.
  • Renewal charges are made on the 1st of each month. Where you pay by bank debit, we start the debit a few days before the 1st so that it settles before the month begins.
  • Your monthly amount is not always the same. A first or final month is prorated to the days you actually hold the space, so it is smaller than a full month. Some local taxes are charged in full for any part of a month and are not prorated, so a short month is not always a proportionally smaller total.
  • We send a receipt to the email address on your account for every charge, and every charge is listed on your booking in your CargoDox account.
  • Keeping a current, working payment method on file is your responsibility. An expired or replaced card does not pause your booking or the amounts owed under it.

Bank debit (ACH) authorization

  • Payment by bank debit is offered on monthly reservations only, and only after a card payment has already succeeded on your account.
  • By providing your bank account details you authorize the Company to debit that account for the amounts described above, and you authorize your bank to accept those debits. This authorization remains in effect until you revoke it.
  • You agree that these debits may be for varying amounts, for the reason given above, and that we may debit the varying amount without sending you separate advance notice of each one. The amount is shown on your booking before the debit is taken.
  • We collect this authorization through our payment processor's secure checkout. The authorization wording shown to you there applies alongside this section.
  • To revoke your authorization, email info@cargodox.com at least 3 business days before the next scheduled debit. Revoking the authorization does not cancel your reservation and does not cancel money you already owe — see §5.
  • If a debit is returned unpaid, your bank may charge you a returned-item fee. That fee is between you and your bank.

If a payment fails

  • We may charge a smaller amount to your card on file to keep your booking open while we retry the full amount.
  • We then retry the remaining balance.
  • ⚠️ If the balance still cannot be collected, we will contact you, and you must either leave the lot or continue at that lot's standard daily rate until the payment is resolved. That daily rate is typically higher than a monthly booking at the same lot works out to per day, so continuing usually costs you more. The lot's current daily rate is shown on its page.
  • If it is not resolved, your reservation is marked past due. Your space is not released automatically; the lot owner is notified and decides for themselves when to release it.
  • Repeated non-payment may result in removal from CargoDox.
  • You remain responsible for amounts owed, and we may collect them from any payment method you have on file.

Refunds

  • An approved refund goes back to the card or bank account it was paid from. We do not issue store credit.
  • We send an approved refund within 5 business days of approving it. How long it then takes to reach you is up to your bank — a card refund usually appears within a few business days, and a refund to a bank account can take longer and cannot be sent until the original payment has settled.

§5 Cancellation & Refund Policy

Cancel within one hour of booking and you owe nothing. This applies to every booking you place yourself on cargodox.com or in the CargoDox app — daily, weekly, or monthly — as long as the booking starts today or later. It is a remedy for a booking made by mistake; it does not apply to a stay that began before today. If we recorded your booking for you rather than you placing it, contact us within the same hour and we will apply the same rule.

An unconfirmed hold — a booking we have not yet confirmed — can be cancelled at no charge at any time, whatever the timing and whatever the period.

After that, what you owe depends on the period you booked:

Monthly bookings have no fixed end date — they renew automatically each month until you cancel. You may cancel a monthly booking at any time; doing so starts a 30-day cancellation notice, not an immediate stop:

  • If your booking has already started, you are billed a prorated charge through 30 days from your cancel date. If it has not started yet, the 30 days run from your start date instead — see the pre-start bullet below.
  • The month you have already been billed for counts toward that 30-day notice. Any days beyond that month are billed at your normal rate — prorated for a partial month, and in full for any complete month the notice runs through.
  • Cancelling does not cancel money already owed. Charges for the period up to your notice end remain due.
  • Cancel a booking that hasn't started more than 72 hours before your start date at no charge; within 72 hours you're committed to the first 30 days.
  • ⚠️ Auto-renew applies once your booking has started; turning it off then is a cancellation that runs the 30-day notice described above. Before your booking starts, use Cancel — the pre-start windows above apply (more than 72 hours before your start date is free; within 72 hours commits you to the first 30 days), and the one-hour window applies either way.

Daily and weekly bookings follow a separate policy:

  • Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the reservation start date receive a full refund. There is no cancellation fee.
  • Cancellations made within 48 hours of the start date are charged the full amount — every night of the booking, not just the nights before you cancelled.
  • Once the reservation period has begun, the booking is charged the full amount; no refund is issued for an early departure.
  • If your booking covers more than one space, you may cancel one space on its own. The same rules apply to that space as to a whole booking: for a monthly booking that has started, the 30-day notice runs for that space and the rest of your booking continues unchanged; for a daily or weekly booking that has started, that space is still charged in full.

Both windows are measured to the exact minute, and both are strict. A cancellation made at exactly 48 hours (or exactly 72 hours) before your start date falls on the charged side of the line, not the free side. Timing is measured against midnight Chicago time on your start date.

The Company reserves the right to cancel a reservation for cause (e.g., violation of these terms) without refund.

§6 Vehicle Condition & Compliance

  • All vehicles must be legally registered and insured per Illinois state law.
  • Vehicles must be in roadworthy condition — abandoned, inoperable, or derelict vehicles may be towed by the lot owner at the vehicle owner's expense after 24 hours' notice.
  • Vehicles must not leak fluids. If a vehicle is found leaking fuel, oil, or other fluids, the lot owner may require its immediate removal, and you may be charged for any cleanup required.
  • The lot owner may inspect vehicles for compliance with these terms at any time.
  • A trailer may be left unhooked and unattended only where the lot owner permits dropped trailers. If you drop a trailer, you must secure it with a high-security kingpin lock; leaving a dropped trailer without one is prima facie negligence on your part, and the Company is under no obligation to provide any assistance in connection with a trailer you left unsecured. Neither the Company nor the lot owner takes custody of, moves, or secures an unattended trailer — you leave it at your own risk.

§7 Liability & Indemnification

The Company owns and operates no parking lot, and provides no security services of any kind. Every lot is owned and operated by an independent lot owner, who controls whatever fencing, gates, lighting, or cameras that lot has — or does not have. Security features differ from lot to lot, and each lot's page describes the features of that particular lot. Do not assume a feature is present at a lot because another lot has it.

Renter parks at Renter's own risk, and assumes all risk of loss, theft, damage, or injury arising from the use of any lot booked through CargoDox.

  • The Company is not liable for theft, vandalism, weather damage, flooding, fire, or any other loss to vehicles or cargo.
  • Renter agrees to indemnify and hold harmless CargoDox, its officers, agents, and employees from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from Renter's use of a lot.
  • Renter is liable for any property damage caused by their vehicle or their activities at a lot.
  • In the event of an accident or incident, Renter must notify the Company within 24 hours.

We take no custody of your vehicle or its freight. The Company never takes care, custody, or control of any vehicle, trailer, or the cargo inside it, and is not a warehouseman, bailee, or motor carrier. The Company accepts no liability for the theft, loss, damage, tampering, temperature deviation, or spoilage of any cargo or freight, and Renter agrees to indemnify and hold the Company harmless from any claim brought over lost or damaged freight.

Limit of liability. To the maximum extent permitted by Illinois law, the Company's total liability to Renter for any claim arising out of a single reservation will never exceed the amount Renter paid the Company for that reservation. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Renter waives any claim against the Company under the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act arising out of the physical condition of a lot or a booking that a lot could not honor.

§8 Access & Security

  • Access credentials (gate codes, key cards, or access apps) are non-transferable and must not be shared.
  • Renter is responsible for all access under their credentials.
  • The Company operates no cameras and monitors no lot. Any camera, gate, or access log at a lot belongs to the lot owner, who decides whether it exists, whether it records, and who may see a recording. Not every lot has one.
  • Trespassers and unauthorized vehicles may be towed by the lot owner at the vehicle owner's expense.

§9 Environmental Compliance

  • No discharge of hazardous waste, oil, fuel, antifreeze, or other pollutants into drains, gutters, or onto the ground.
  • Renter is solely responsible for compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Observed environmental violations will be reported to the appropriate authorities.
  • Renter is financially responsible for any environmental cleanup required due to their vehicle or activities.

§10 Enforcement & Termination

  • The Company reserves the right to terminate any reservation immediately for violation of any provision of these Terms.
  • Vehicles may be towed by the lot owner without notice in cases of unauthorized mechanical work, hazardous conditions, or failure to pay.
  • The Company may permanently ban any renter from every lot bookable through CargoDox for serious or repeated violations.
  • All disputes are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any lawsuit arising out of these Terms or a booking must be filed exclusively in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois, or the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and the parties consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
  • Individual disputes only. Renter and the Company agree that any dispute will be resolved on an individual basis. Renter waives any right to bring or take part in a class action, collective action, or other representative proceeding against the Company.
